The little black dress is the true friend…she travels with you…is patient and constant…you go to her when you don’t know where else to go and she is ALWAYS reliable and timeless. -Diane Von Furstenburg
LBD or the Little Black Dress is a rather short evening or cocktail dress worn by women who prefer a timeless classic. Its USP lies in its versatility, if the dress is heavily embellished you can dress it down by donning light make-up sans any jewellery, or, if the LBD in concern is a plain one like the one I am wearing in the picture above, you can dress it up with exquisite jewellery. I have chosen a beautiful layered necklace with danglers and and an unusual spade cocktail ring to compliment my otherwise plain black yet stylish LBD. In fact the “little black dress” is considered to be a pre-requisite to complete the wardrobe of any fashionista.
Initially, it was Coco Chanel who made the LBD famous in 1926 by featuring it in the Vogue Magazine and then Audrey Hepburn ensured that it became a timeless classic when she wore an LBD in the now legendary film-Breakfast At Tiffany’s , from then on there was simply no looking back for this attire which is now desired by women all over the world!. The silhouette ,cut and the styling of the LBD might have transformed over the years but what remains the same is the ageless and immortal character of this apparel!.
